DEVYN WOLFF She’d been up and running since five AM, first to school, then home again, to complete her homework, now, at six PM, she was putting the finishing touches on her outfit for work, she was going to wear a black skirt, a turquoise tank top, and black leather sandals, two bracelets and a watch on her left wrist. Recurling her hair, adding in a few more waves, then glancing in the mirror in the bathroom of her house, she smiled and headed for the front door. Satisfied her home was secure, she snatched her book off the table by the door, grabbed her house keys and headed out into the slowly lighting stone passage of the cavern between her house and work. She said hello to many of the people that had known her when she wasn’t so well off as she is now. Smiling she walked through the door to Hayden Grocery Store and called out, “Hey Mr. Hayden. The shelves ready to be stocked?” She teased as she went toward the back room and caught the chuckle from the old man as the door swished quietly shut behind her. Setting her book down on a shelf near the door she smiled and stepped back into the store and wandered through the aisles to see what needed to be stocked at that moment. With the pictures of what she needed to stock again, she went back into the backroom and grabbed the items and put them in a cart to take them back out to stock the shelves. Falling into her natural rhythm of stocking, it was by pure chance that she heard a familiar voice in the store, I just need to grab a few things Mr. Hayden. For a moment, her pale blue eyes widened, that was the voice of the Rider she had been crushing on for a while. Then, shaking off her momentary shock, Devyn went back to her stocking, she really didn’t want to try and talk to him, she couldn’t. She always kept listening and when she heard the bell above the door ring, she stepped around the shelves and caught the old man’s eye. Oh, Devyn, can you go out to the dock and get the stockroom reloaded? Devyn smiled and tilted her head to the side, “Sure Mr. Hayden, I can do that and then, I might take my break.” The old man chuckled softly as Devyn heard the door shut softly behind her. Then, she went to the dock and helped the young man unload the truck and then she restocked the shelves in the stockroom and then grabbed her book. Entering the store, she saw the old man and he waved her out she smiled and ran out on her break, to the gardens, she read for a while and then she watched the training for a little bit, and returned to the store where she took up her post at the counter and leaned on her arms on the counter and waited for business to pick up again. Jayda walked around with her wolf pup Lupin at her heels. He was having trouble keeping up with her she found, and finally picked him up, carrying him in her arms. She smiled and chuckled as Lupin started licking her and made a cute barking noise, soon petting him and telling him he was a good boy. Soon she got tired of carrying him, and put him in the neck of her jacket, where he sat there, head poking out and paws hanging on the neck to stay out. She smiled, easy way of carrying him. Looking up she found herself in the Caverns, yes, this was where she was supposed to be going. Now, what store? She started walking and looking at each store, but none of them was the right one.
But then, she saw it. "Hayden's Grocery Store" Perfect, a grocery store, just where she could get the food for her home. She smiled, her mom had been giving her money through the mail to which she could get her daily needs from (since she didn't have a job and she was living away from her mom in the Candidates Dormitories) Jayda went in and looked around, putting some milk and tea in her bag, not to mention some ham, turkey, and ribs (BBR Ribs, her favorite food in the world!) She went up to the lady, was this the place she checked out her stuff? Lets see..
"Excuse me. This is where I check my food out right?"

Devyn heard the bell on the door ring and watched the woman walk in. Then she heard her approaching the counter and lifted her pale blue eyes to her customer. “It is indeed.” That’s when she noticed the paws draped down along the woman’s neck and smiled as she found the eyes of the wolf. She chuckled and looked to the woman again, “That’s an adorable little guy.” She said indicating the pup draped around her neck. Tilting her head a little Devyn, half shrugged she had never seen someone do that before, but she knew it wouldn’t last for too long, the pup would grow up eventually. She waited for the woman to place her items on the counter so she could check them out.

Jayda nodded, she was glad she went to the right place, she would have been extremely embarrased if she hadn't. She smiled at her and when she gave a compliment about Lupin she chuckled.
"Yeah, I know, he's adorable....." Jayda said. "Yeah, I know, it's weird how I carry him, hehe. It's just an easier way to keep him catching up with me without having to hold him and putting him down to use my hands for something else. And it's also an easier way to keep track of him, don't wanna lose him do I?" She asked and then laughed. "Sorry....I'm going on aren't I? Err, here's my groceries.." She said, scooting them towards her.
She felt somewhat bad for possibly wasting the girls time, and possibly making others wait in line longer then they wanted, although there wasn't anybody behind her. Lupin started barking and growling, trying to be intimidating but failing completely and sounding extremely cute.

Devyn smiled as she scanned her groceries as she listened to the woman tell her about the wolf. “No I don’t suppose it would be good if you lost a wolf in the town. That’ll be thirty-five dollars even.” Devyn told her with a smile as she chuckled at the pup’s attempt at being ferocious. “What’s his name?” She asked as she put the woman’s groceries into bags. Then passed them back across the counter toward her and then leaned a hip against the counter and tilted her head as she waited for a response. There was no one else in the store, save for herself and Mr. Hayden and this woman so, she could afford to be lax on her duties at the moment.

"I would hate to lose him." She said petting his head. "He's my first pet, and I might not get another if something happens to this cute little guy." She said.
Lupin tried to bite Jayda but she jerked away and laughed.
"See that? I don't think he likes to be called cute to tell the truth." She stuck her tongue out as Lupin growled.
"Oh, his name? Lupin." She smiled at the lady. "His names Lupin. Heh."
Lupin stuck his tongue out and panted, apparently getting over the fact of being 'cute'. Jayda reached her hand and petted him on the head again, he nuzzled her hand as she did and Jayda giggled then sighed. "Lupin~!" She said pleasantly, she was really enjoying the fact she finally had an animal.

Devyn smiled as she listened to the woman say how she would hate to lose the pup, how he was her first pet ever, Devyn merely nodded, she knew that feeling. “That makes perfect sense to me.” Devyn’s eyes widened momentarily as the pup tried to bite her hand. Then she laughed at her proclamation that the pup didn’t like to be called cute. She could see that. Devyn smiled as the woman introduced the pup to her, “That is such a cute name. And it fits him.” Devyn told her as she caught Mr. Hayden’s glance in her direction.
Then the old man came over and smiled at the pair. Why don’t we call it an early night Devyn? I can close up the shop. Devyn smiled as she looked to the old man, “Are you sure Mr. Hayden?” The old man’s smile was confirmation enough. “Thanks Mr. Hayden. See you tomorrow!” And with that Devyn stepped from behind the counter and smiled at the woman. “So, now what? Think he’ll let me pet him soon?” Devyn asked as she stepped toward the door to the grocery. She’d scooped up one of the woman’s grocery bags and smiled at her as she waited to see what would happen next.

"Yeah, I hope it makes sense." She chuckled.
Lupin growled when the girl said his name was cute.
"Buuut iitttt isssss!" Said Jayda, tugging at his ear softly.
Lupin went to bite her but she jerked away again.
"But cute fits you!" She said. "It really does! What are you trying to say your handsome?" She asked.
Lupin looked at her, panting with a smile on his face.
"Nope. You're not handsome. You're cute! Cuuuuteeeee! Got it?"
Luoin let out a whine and then a growl.
"You might get handsome when you're bigger though. MIGHT!"
She looked up as a man came over and told her to close down the shop. Jayda smiled nervously.
"Sorry I took your workers time away.." She said embarrassed
She smiled as Devyn came with her groceries and stopped at the door, speaking again. "I dunno. I mean, you called him cute." She joked, laughing after it.
Lupin let out a growl.
"But you are!!"
She went overnext to Devyn, smiling at her.

Devyn smiled broadly as she watched the wolf pup and catching the young woman’s words at the same time. She seemed like a decent woman. Devyn could already tell she would like her, and it was even better that she had a wolf pup too. Her brother had said something about getting a wolf himself, but she didn’t know where Dom was at the moment. She smiled as Mr. Hayden good naturedly waved off the woman’s apology about taking Devyn’s time and then the woman was beside her at the door. “Now that I am officially off work, let me introduce myself properly. I’m Devyn Wolff. Friends call me Dev.”
Then she chuckled and pushed the door open with her hip and then laughed again as she tilted her head to the side, “And I know your pup’s name but not yours.” She said with a good natured laugh as she stepped out of the grocery shooting a wave back at Mr. Hayden as he started to empty out the register. That was the good thing about working in a small family owned shop. Your boss could tell you how long or how short you would be working and they were usually lax with when and for how long your breaks should be. Dev waited to see what the young woman would say.

She chuckled. "Nice to meet you Dev!" She put her hand out for her to shake it. "And, I'm Jayda. Jayda Moores." She smiled, chuckling rather happily to her. This was great! She was making a new friend, how Jayda loved making new friends! Spencer always liked her hvaing friends, saying friends made the world go round. She always agreed with that. And what was great about her brother Spencer, was he didn't mind what kinda friends she had. Like Gwen for example, she was a badass bullying girl. He did nothing to stop her from hanging out with her, and they became the best of friends. Mom didn't seem to care either, although her dad did. Stupid dad...she didn't even consider him as a father...always cheating on her mother....She put that in the back of her mind, for she almost got so lost into it she forgot all about Devyn

Devyn laughed a little as she took Jayda’s offered hand and shook it. “Nice to meet you Jayda. Hey, I heard that there was supposed to be quite the show of training ability and practice near the training grounds. I myself am not slated to be a Candidate, but I do love watching the others.” Dev told her, not really mentioning the rider she had a crush on but indicating that she did want to watch them. She loved seeing how the riders and dragons flawlessly melded together in flight and the like. Her pale light blue eyes were bright with her excitement. Devyn didn’t quite know what to do with herself, she rarely had this much time on the evenings when she worked and now she had met someone that had a wolf and who was pretty awesome really. A broad smile claimed her lips and she looked up toward the training facility and the gardens. “Or, we could go up to the gardens too if you would rather.” Dev said as she turned her pale light blue eyes back to Jayda as she awaited a response from the woman. Devyn had very few friends…well, one…her big brother Dominic. A soft sigh escaped her lips as she saw Dom’s image in her mind, a sigh of loneliness and worry. She tried to hide it beneath her smile but knew she’d probably failed.

She nodded as she shook her hand and smiled softly. Then Devyn asked if she wanted to go to the training grounds, she blinked then smiled. The thought of seeing the Riders train was quite nice, she knew it'd be rather fun. She nodded, saying a simple 'yes' as her answer. Lupin scooted down, hiding himself in her jacket. She looked at him.
"Whats wrong Lupin?" She asked.
He whined and Jayda sighed. Man she wish she could speak dog, that wasn't even possible though........Well, oh well. She would eventually find out wouldn't she? She followed Devyn as they made their way to the training grounds, she had never been there really so she was quite excited. Then she remembered something about Devyn...she had seen some kind of emotion underneath that smile of hers. She blinked.
"You okay?" She asked curiously.

Through her emotions, Devyn barely registered the wolf’s whimper a he hid himself beneath Jayda’s jacket. Then Dev caught the spoken words of Jayda as she spoke to her, You okay? Quickly brushing an escaping tear off her cheek Devyn turned to answer Jayda, “Truthfully…not really. I’ve been thinking a lot lately and it’s not really helping me any…” Devyn trailed off, a moment before she looked up as the shadow of a dragon flew overhead and Devyn followed its progress as it and its rider descended into the training arena and Devyn smiled broadly before running up toward the fence keeping the views back out of harm’s way as they watched. Leaning on the fence she scanned the slowly gathering dragons, jankas and their riders. There was one person she was looking for and it didn’t take her long to spot his lithe frame and a bright smile lit her eyes before they darkened again as an image of Dom crossed her mind again, by this time she figured Jayda would have caught up with her and so she finished her sentence, “…I’ve been thinking about my big brother Dominic a lot, Jayda I miss him and I don’t know where he is or if he’s alive.” She fell silent then just as a pair of dragons roared and leapt up into the air, the training had begun.
Devyn turned her glance partly to the practicing dragons and riders, and left most of her other senses on Jayda as she waited for a response. Her eyes followed the intricate spirals and twists and turns as the dragons mock attacked one another and the opposite rider and the riders attacked opposite riders and dragons. A soft smile ghosted around her lips as she watched them, they always had such beautiful movements, she was so surprised and every once in a while it annoys her that she wasn’t a Candidate. She rested on the fence watching and waiting for Jayda to speak.

"I am so sorry." Jayda said. "But, I know you'll get through it! Just be strong! Don't forget him, but don't always be sad and think about him all the time. Do things to get your mind off of him, it's not healthy to be sad all the time." She said. "Get friends to talk to, do things you enjoy, everything you can think of. I'm not saying not to think of him of course. That's the wrong thing to do really." She smiled softly.
They soon got to the training grounds and she watched them train with Devyn. They were very great at this! It was quite interesting, and just to think she would be a Rider soon. She would train extremly hard, she wanted to help protect her home, she wanted to be like her mother, she wanted to make everyone proud, and show Gwen she's not as girkly as she seems. She chuckled.
"Nice sight isn't it?" She asked, watching a Rider run and jump across a mat getting tto the other side then cheering as an accomplishment, giving his friends high fives and moving to a larger mat.

Devyn smiled as she heard Jayda speak, I am so sorry. But, I know you'll get through it! Just be strong! Don't forget him, but don't always be sad and think about him all the time. Dev smiled as she looked to Jayda who was beside her at the fence. “Thanks Jayda, I needed to tell someone.” Then she fell silent and watched the Riders and Companions.
In the silence around them and the clashing in the Training Arena, Dev heard Jayda’s voice again, Nice sight isn't it? Devyn smiled brightly as she watched the boy leap the mat and meet up with his buddies. “It is, but there is only one person I’m waiting to really see out there, in action…Ashe.” She smiled as she thought about her crush, she wasn’t really lying, she really did want to see Ashe out there. She turned to look at Jayda, and the sadness had flitted away from her demeanor. “Friends?” She asked and waited.
