JORDYN AAAHLIE It had been quite a while since Jordyn had made herself at home in Sylian. Now that she was here, the bronze dragon’s words are echoing even more loudly in her mind, I wouldn’t be surprised if you would be on the next Candidate list for either a Dragon or a Janka bonding. She sincerely hoped he was right to have put that much faith in her. She didn’t really put that much faith in herself. Oh well, perhaps the bronze saw something that she didn’t. Her eyelids fluttered over her pale green eyes and she awoke, stretching, she rolled over and saw it was quite early in the morning. Sitting up she stretched again and threw the blankets back off herself. Fixing her top she found her clothes for the day, a white tank top with some buttons, a pair of dark blue jeans, and then she made her way to the bathroom to shower and get ready for the day. Forty minutes later she was out of the shower, dried off, and dressed. Padding quietly down the hall back to her room, Jordyn finished getting dressed. All she really needed to finish up was running a comb through her hair and putting on her black leather boots. Glancing into the slightly dusty mirror, Jordyn parted her hair and then satisfied she was as good as she was going to get, she stepped into the hall again and looked out toward the Nesting Sands, Hmmm…I wonder how soon the hatching will be. She thought and then leaned on the window ledge, and continued looking out the window, it was only probably about four AM, at least judging by the height and brightness of the golden sun, if she was correct, she still had two hours before she had to be to work in the Keep. She sighed and let her mind wander, debating whether she’d end up with a dragon or a janka, what color it would be, and that type of thing. She was so far immersed in her mind she didn’t hear the approach of the other person. Words~351 Speaking Listening Thoughts and eventually talking with her mount

Tabby stepped out of her Dormitory and looked around, smiling as she thought of the next hatching. She looked towards the Nesting Sands, though she couldn't see much sadly. Oh well, she'll see at the next hatching! She smiled and laughed as she had to suddenly shield her eyes from the bright sunlight. If she could name a Yellow Dragon she would name it Sunshine or something! But, she knew that they already knew their name once they hatched, which always ended in a -th sound.
She walked through the Hall, doors everywhere, where the other candidates rest. Tabby smiled, waving at whoever she passed, they all seemed pretty nice to her. They were pretty cool. She slowed down as she saw someone in the hallway, blinking at them. They was new, or so it seemed. She gasped, they couldn't go without being introduced! She ran up to her and waved at her, hand flapping side to side ridiculously by her excitement.
"Hi! I'm Tabby! Well, actually Tabitha Leoheart, but please call me Tabby! Are you new here> You seem to be, whats your name? What Candidate are you? I'm a dragon candidate! What color are you aiming for? I'm aiming for yellow! What color aren't you aiming for? Me is black! Whats your reason? I like the Yellow cause its a bright color and it's a rally nice and happy dragon, and the black is said to be mean! Ooh it's so nice to meet you!!!:" She said very excitedly.

Pulled out of her reverie by a very excited voice Jordyn turned to face the speaker, a young girl, probably no more than twelve years old with blonde hair and crystal blue eyes. She felt a smile creep to her lips unbidden as the girl introduced herself and flew into a flood of other questions. Jordyn couldn’t help but laugh a little, then she spoke in good natured teasing, “Pleasure to meet you Tabby. I’m Jordyn, Jordyn Aaahlie. I am new, I’ve just arrived. I’m also a dragon candidate, aiming to get a black or a silver, but I definitely don’t want a pink. I’m aiming for the black or silver because they are a lot like me, granted I’m not mean, but I am sort of antisocial, much like a black is and I’m quite leader like, like the silver, but I am not a fan of the color pink, never have been.”
Smiling Jordyn looked toward the sun again and realized her time had been slipping away from her quickly. “I have to get going Tabby. I gotta be to the Keep before six so I can get an early start on my chores in the Keep. It must be about ten until six. But you’re welcome to tag along.” Jordyn felt a slight connection with Tabby, almost like a sister or a mother. It also helped that the little blonde was the first to speak. Jordyn pushed herself off the window ledge and started for the door of the dormitories to head out to the Keep.

"Ohhh I see! Well I wouldn't mind a pink either I guess, I mean they also have a pretty nice and happy personality! They're playful and hyper and nice and caring and stuff like that, just like me!" She said. When Jordyn stated she had to go she looked sad but her happiness came back when she added she could come along. "Ok! I'd be happy to come! It'll be a whole bunch of fun! We can talk to each other and get to know each other and maybe we'll become best friends! That'd be great huh? Right? I like making friends, it's nice, meow.." She said, meowing at the end of her sentence for the first time all morning. "So! What do you do at the keep? What exactly is the keep?" She asked."What time is it anyways? It looks really early, I don't know if I've ever gotten up this early! Meow!"

Jordyn chuckled a little again as she turned to look back at the little blonde as she shot off in many more different directions, asking more questions. She couldn’t really remember back to when she was that young, did she have that much energy and that bubbly of a personality? She smiled as she answered Tabby again, “I’m glad Tabby. Yes, we can, and maybe we will become friends, though I’ll be the first to admit, I’ve never had a friend as young as you are.” She slowed her pace and dropped back beside Tabby throwing her arm over her shoulders.
Then she spoke again, “I never had siblings either. As to your questions on the Keep, it’s the place where they keep some of the countries dragons and jankas. I help take care of those dragons, helping patch up those that are wounded, cleaning out the dragons’ pens, and when I finish all the tasks I need to do, I get to spend some time with the dragon that reignited my want to be a Rider, a big old bronze. He made the life of a Rider sound so glorious! I can’t wait to bond to my own dragon.” Jordyn felt her excitement growing as the huge Keep loomed up in the distance.
“There’s the Keep Tabby. Now you’ll get to watch me work and we’ll get to talk too.” Stepping through the half open door, Jordyn breathed deeply of the strong musty scent that always hung about in the Keep, it was a scent that would always make a smile come to and remain on her lips. She glanced back over her shoulder at Tabby and shot her a grin and a quick wink as she headed directly for the pen of a green that had come in injured the other day.
Making soothing noises deep in her throat, a trick she had learned from her father, she stepped into the pen putting up a hand to stop Tabby outside the door, she didn’t want her to get hurt, the green growled as Jordyn stopped beside its taloned foot and then she lifted her emerald eyes to meet the dragon’s and spoke to it, “Oh stop it! You know I mean no harm.” The dragon scoffed and laid it’s head down on the pen’s floor. Then Jordyn went to it’s leg and checked the bandage and waited for Tabby to speak again.

"I've never had a friend as old as you either! Ohh wait, at least I think, how old are you? I'm twelve, haha!" She exclaimed. She smiled as Jordyn put a hand over her shoulder, friendship already!"Oh! I have a brother, the bestest brother ever to! His name is Kevin, and he's really cool, maybe you'll meet him some day!" She said clapping her hands happily, thinking about her brother made her happy!
She cocked her head as Jordyn explained the keep and nodded when she was done. "Thats really cool! Maybe I'll be able to have that job someday!" She giggled. "I'd like being able to spend time with the dragons, and Janka's to! It'd be nice." She smiled, pleased at the thought of helping others. "I just love helping others, it'd be really fun!"
Looking at the Keep she laughed. "It's nice I guess." She said. "So this is it...heehee" When they got in she smelled the air and wrinkled her nose, it didn't smell to great to her, she would have to get used to the new smell. She looked over and saw Jordyn smile at the smell and it made Tabby smile to. Tabby almost followed Jordyn inside but she was stopped suddenly, almost running into her hand that was put out in her face. She then stepped back to watch.
"So....um...how exactly do you spend time with the dragons and jankas? They can only talk in minds can't they? Unless they get in your mind...do they get in your mind?" She asked, watching Jordyn start helping the green dragon, it seemed unfriendly at first until she told it she meant no harm. She smiled, she hoped her dragon would be nice to!

As Jordyn went about caring for the green’s injury she listened close to what Tabby was saying. “I’m twenty. I would have guessed you to be fifteen Tabby. I would like that Tabby, really. I guessed you did like helping people.” Jordyn chuckled as Tabby wrinkled her nose at the scent of the Keep. Shaking her hair back Jordyn chuckled and stood up grabbing the fresh wraps for the dragon’s cut leg. Then as she picked up its leg to start wrapping over the freshly sanitized and treated cut she answered Tabby again, “Usually I just sit in their pens, humming and making low rumblings and growls in my chest because yes, they do only speak within one’s mind…”
Jordyn paused a moment to catch her breath and then continued, “…but me, I leave my mind completely open to anything, only a few of the dragons have ever entered my mind, and those that have entered it have been quite friendly.” The green roared violently and tried to tug it’s leg out of Jordyn’s grasp and she met its eyes and narrowed her gaze on it and the dragon held her eyes for a while and then dipped its head down to her level. Jordyn glared even more and the dragon settled down, shuffling its wings in slight anger but it stopped fighting her ministrations.
Smiling she returned her focus to the wound and tied the knot over the worst of the wound and patted the green’s shoulder. “I can also usually read the dragon’s thoughts in its eyes. C’mon, there’s a blue down a little farther that has almost fully healed from the gash on his chest, he’s one of the few that has spoken to me.” As she started up the aisle, she made a gentle growl and saw the blue raise his head to look at her. Well hey there darling, how are you? Jordyn laughed aloud as she stepped into his pen, “I’m good, coming to check on how well you are so that maybe we can get you out of here and back up to the right area for ya.” She told him as she knelt before his massive chest.
Peeling the bandage off, she looked at the bright pink slash and smiled. “Good as new. Let your rider know you guys can go back as soon as tomorrow.” The blue rumbled low in his throat, an almost laugh as he looked to Tabby. And who’s your tag along Jordyn? The blue asked and Jordyn smiled at him and answered, “That’s my friend, she likes to be called Tabby. She’s a Dragon Candidate.” The blue smiled and dropped his gaze to Tabby’s level and “smiled” at her. Jordyn laughed and looked to Tabby. “He likes you Tabby.” She told her and patted his shoulder as she looked to Tabby to see her reaction.

She jumped, wide-eyed when the green roared. It was quite scary, but somehow Jordyn got it calm down. As Jordyn fixed it up and told her about the blue she nodded, coming with her.
"That was really cool...how did you get it calmed dowm?" Asked Tabby in a whisper, she was still a bit scared she couldn't get it out of her mind.
As Jordyn spoke to the blue she smiled, and went wide-eyed as it turned to her, taking a step back. Then she straightened up and looked at it determinedly. Then she noticed the smile! A Smile! When Jordyn told her that he liked her she gaped at it for a minute....before her mouth curled up in a wide smile.
"Yessss!!" She exclaimed happily. "A dragon likes me! A dragon likes me! I hope my baby dragon likes me to! Ohh this is so AWESOME!!!!" She said, dancing around oddly.

Jordyn half smiled as she watched Tabby jump at the green’s roar. Then she chuckled a little as the pair moved together down the aisle toward the blue. “It was trying to scare me Tabby, much like it scared you. But I held its eyes and glared much like another dragon would have done had it been in a confrontation with one. And because I didn’t break eye contact…it realized I was a good one to have as an ally rather than an enemy.” She smiled as she stepped into the blue’s pen, if he was a dog he’d have been wagging his tail.
Jordyn glanced back at Tabby as the blue turned his attention to Tabby. She watched as she stepped back but then straightened and looked at him determinedly. Jordyn laughed as she patted the blue’s shoulder. Then she smiled as she heard Tabby happily exclaim the fact that the dragon liked her. Then she smiled as the blue spoke again to her, She’s quite the helper isn’t she? The dragon asked as he rolled an eye back a little to look at Jordyn. She simply nodded as she spoke to Tabby again. “Hey Tabby, remember what I told you about opening your mind to anything and everything?”
Jordyn paused as the dragon turned his head back toward her and she smiled at him. “Why don’t you give it a try? You’ll have to know it eventually right?” Jordyn asked with a laugh as the blue roared out a chuckle before he turned his head back toward Tabby. Do you think she’ll oblige it Jordyn? Jordyn patted the blue’s shoulder again and dipped her head in a half nod, watching Tabby as she danced about in the aisle. Sure she had other dragons to attend too. But that didn’t mean she had to hurry to treat them too. She relaxed in the blue’s presence and smiled a little as she waited.

She blinked and put to note not to lose eye contact to a dragon if she wanted to tell it she was an ally. She suddenly stopped dancing. Jordyn had asked her if she remembered how she told her about opening her mind. She nodded, then she said she should give it a try. She smiled and nodded again. This would be awesome!! A dragon talking to her! She closed her eyes and relaxed, trying to open her mind up so she could get any messages, although she was having trouble trying to figure out how. Soon, she felt a presence and wondered if she had done it. She waited patiently for a voice to come in her mind, ohhh this was so intense!

Jordyn smiled as she tilted her head at Tabby. Then when she looked like she was ready, Jordyn tapped the dragon on his shoulder. The blue smiled at Tabby again and laid his head on the floor of his pen. Hello Tabby. I’m sure your dragon will be quite similar to myself. He told Tabby and Jordyn too, as she had heard his voice too. Then he fell silent and lay completely relaxed on the floor of his pen. Patting the blue’s shoulder, Jordyn stepped away from him and squeezed Tabby’s shoulder as she stepped into the aisle. “Why don’t the two of you chat…I have some other patients to attend too.”
Then she headed down the aisle to the pen of a pink dragon, she lifted her head halfway and tried to get good focus on Jordyn. Jordyn made a light growl deep in her throat and stepped up to her foreleg. “Easy now pretty girl, I just need you to drop you head down to my level so I can see how bad your injury will hinder you later on.” For about ten minutes the dragon refused to obey Jordyn’s simple question, but then with a rough, growled sigh she dropped her head to the pen’s floor and waited for Jordyn to attend to her.
Making sure the dragon was relaxed, Jordyn knelt before the dragon’s face and started gauging the wound on her face. An angled gash just over the dragon’s right eye, it had caused a lot of swelling, which was making her eye swell, but it was up high enough that it would not cause an major damage. Smiling, Jordyn went about cleaning the gash, applying the antibiotic and then wrapping a cloth over it. The dragon grumbled about Jordyn wrapping it, but allowed it. Then, with a smile Jordyn looked back down the aisle to Tabby and smiled. She was ok. Then she turned back to the pink lying behind her Jordyn spoke again, “The good news is, you’ll be fine.” She told her, the pink raised her head and dipped it in a nod and Jordyn stretched out on a nearby hay bale. She didn’t have any others to worry about just yet.

Hello Tabby. I’m sure your dragon will be quite similar to myself.
Tabby gasped in somewhat surprise but happiness to. She started dancing around, eyes closed, happy as could be. She had a wide smile spread across her face and was having such a great time! She loved this, the dragon was actually talking to her! Ooh, the best day ever! She was glad she had met Jordyn, this was awesome! She finally opened her eyes and looked at the dragon with happiness spread across her face.
"Hi!" She exclaimed. "And I sure hope so! I mean, I want to be able to get a good bond with my dragon! A good relationship I mean, for I would of course get a bond...but it'd be awesome, I hope it's as nice as you!" She said clapping her hands.
She sat down and looked at the dragon, waiting for its reply.

Jordyn smiled as the pink turned her head toward her on the bale, Thank you Jordyn. Jordyn smiled as she shot the pink a salute and then she sat up quickly as she heard Tabby’s gasp of surprise and delight down at the pen of the blue. The she laughed a little as she sat up on the bale and watched Tabby. Things were going better than Jordyn would have hoped it would have been and then she sprawled on the bale and called down the aisle toward Tabby. “Don’t have a heart attack down there Tabs!” Jordyn teased as she heard Tabby talking to the blue.
She returned her attention to the pink as a soft growling chuckle escaped from her mouth. You told her that some of us had talked to you didn’t you? Jordyn met and held the pink’s gaze for a moment. “Well, I might’ve let it slip…once…” the pink shook her head good naturedly as she snaked her head out of her pen to look down the aisle to the little girl. She seems like the type of rider I would want were I not already bonded. Jordyn smiled as she patted the side of the pink’s neck and laughed as she spoke, “Yeah, she’s aiming for a Yellow.” The pink let a loud but gentle roar echoing through the Keep as she watched the little girl and the woman who had attended to her.

Tabby smiled widely at the dragon as she waited for a reply. She laughed when Jordyn told her not to have a heart attack.
"I won't!" She said back.
Aiming for a yellow huh?
"Oh yes I am! I like the yellows because I heard that the yellows are bright, sunny, happy, and talkitve! I would have somebody to talk to when I was bored, we could play on the playground swings all the time, we'd relax under the sun and sing, it'd be awesome! I'd be with them forever and ever and ever!" She exclaimed happily.
I see. Well a yellow seems to really fit you, like a pink would to.
"Really?! So there's a chance I could get a yellow or a pink?!" She asked excitedly.
Yes, I would say there is a big chance.
"YESS!!" She yelled, jumping up fist in the air.
Suddenly there was a roar, and she fell back over. She laughed because she knew it was a friendly roar.

Sprawled on her stomach on the bale, her heels touching the small of her back, Jordyn watched Tabby down by the Blue and laughed a little as Tabby spoke to her in response to her playful declaration, I won’t! She kicked her feet a little as she relaxed on the bale and laughed at each happy outburst Tabby let loose as she conversed with the Blue. You really shouldn’t have told her, now you’ll have to drag her out of the Keep with you. Jordyn chuckled a little as she got up and stretched and then planted her feet in the aisle.
Jordyn just glimpsed Tabby falling over and getting back to her feet, and smiled, knowing she’d be fine, “Nawww…she’ll come with me. She’s like the little sister I never had.” The rumble of laughter in the Pink’s chest made Jordyn smile again as she headed down to attend to her next victim, a brown dragon with a rather large slice in its wing. It watched her a moment and then snapped at her as she stepped into the pen. Growling low in her throat, locking eyes with it and stepping into its space she settled it down as she stepped around to its wing.
“See? Now shut up and let me look at it.” She told the Brown, it rolled its eyes and took its time opening its tattered wing. Jordyn sighed and then looked at the dragon, “That’s going to have to be stitched back together and you’ll have to take it easy for a long while.” Shaking her head the dragon snarled and nipped at her again, Jordyn crossed her arms and glared, the dragon snapping its jaws shut inches from her forearm. “Well don’t be cross at me. I can’t control The Thread or the other soldiers out there.”
The dragon snorted angrily and folded the wing back against its side and laid its head over its leg and rumbled angrily in its throat. It knew she was right. Jordyn dipped her head and retrieved her needle and a very light weight, dissolving thread and stepped back into the pen, the dragon snapped its wing out, slamming it against the wall and leaving it so Jordyn could deal with it. Shaking her head, Jordyn went to work, expertly stitching together the thin finger membranes of the wing and then, finished she stepped back and glared hard at the dragon a moment before telling it, “You better take it easy now, I don’t wanna see you back here again because of the same wing.” She told it as she stepped out of the pen back into the aisle and returned to the bale beside the Pink’s pen and watched both Tabby and for her next arrival.
