Running a hand through his close-cropped raven-black hair, Darren, walked calmly through the knee-high grasses of the field around the Lake, it was just afternoon and the sun was just starting to warm up the Lake. Stripping off his shirt and pants at the Lake’s edge, Darren stepped into the lake in his undershorts, gasping just momentarily as the cool water surrounded his lean, muscled one-hundred-fifty pound frame, his deep dark green eyes were bright with his happiness. It had been so long since he had been able to just relax and enjoy a nice long swim. Being in the military had taken that away from him.
After lingering in the water for about fifteen minutes, his body had become accustomed to it and Darren finally got his swim, he swam quite a few laps back and forth through the lake and then, satisfied with his three hour swim, Darren stepped out of the water, stripped his sodden undershorts off, and dried off, then put on dry undershorts and pulled his pants back on, but left his shirt off, draped over a nearby tree limb. He hadn’t had breakfast this morning, and so he decided it would be a good idea to break out his food stores.
He’d grabbed some dried fruit and some water, and bread, but had not gotten himself any meat. He was at the Lake however, so this meant he could have fish. Smiling Darren knelt beside the lake’s edge, near some aquatic foliage and watched the water for any signs of movement. It wasn’t long before a flash of scales caught his eye. Darren dropped a hand gently into the water and watched the fish turn slowly and come toward his hand…he snatched it quickly and tossed it up into the grass. Then a second caught his eye and he went through the same ritual with it.
Collecting both fish, Darren speared them on sticks and made himself a small fire to cook them over. While the fish cooked, Darren set out his other food on a blanket and finished cooking the fish. Then leaving one stuck in the ground beside the fire, Darren started to eat the other and munch on his fruit and drink his water as well, as he rested against a nearby tree, its dark bark warmed by the sunlight, as he ate he watched the birds flying overhead and then he heard a sound and turned to look for the cause, his deep, dark green eyes curious and welcoming.

Vayne was walking around the lake shore he had hidden behind a large tree when he seen a man walk over a stirp he watched him swim for three hours when he got he he seen his start to take his boxers off Vayne gasped and turned his head away not wanting to see a strangers lower regions. he waited for a few minutes then looked back and seen the man was mostly clothed but with out a shirt. Vayne started to shew his jacket sleeve as he did when he saw something he liked. Wow he' gorgeous. I wish I looked like him. He watched him get two fish and start to cook them on the fire he watched him eat.
He finally had the courage to go and talk to him. He stepped out of hos hiding place and started to walk towards him. When he seen the man look towards him he yelped and quickly his hoping he wouldn't see him. Vayne side started to hurt from the sudden movement so he rubbed it absently. Vayne knew he was bleeding he had just ran away from his foster dad while he was trying to have his way with Vayne. His foster father always beat him before he did other things to him Vayne never understood why he was so cruel to him he never did anything wrong.
Vaynes stomach growled from the starvation of two weeks because of the starvation of two weeks. His foster father wouldn't allow him to eat till he was ready for Vayne to eat, sometimes that took up to two months before he wss fed. He tried to forget about that for now and focus on the stranger. a tune that Vayne had heard once before popped into his head so he started to hum it while trying to get the courage to walk over there. Darren tilted his head to the side as he observed the young man who had just come out of hiding. Then he saw him try to get away and hide again. Darren didn’t like what he could see from here, the man looked too thin to be healthy. Leaning forward, Darren spoke, “Please…do not be frightened. Are you hungry? I have plenty to share.” He told him and then smiled a welcoming smile as he spoke again, “My name’s Darren Khoal by the way. What about you?” Then Darren fell silent and waited to see if the man might just take his invitation.
As discreetly as he could Darren let his deep, dark green eyes travel over the man before him, dark hair with some blonde, pale blue eyes, he was six foot two, two inches shorter than himself, all in all, a rather lovely young man. Darren smiled again and just too be sure he didn’t scare away the young man, Darren took his eyes from him, and watched him from the corner of his eye as he opened a book. Darren didn’t want this young man to be injured or anything, his military protectiveness surfacing, to him, despite looking healthy Darren was afraid he was being hurt. He sat silently against the tree, and waited.

Vayne watched him for a minute the walked towards him trying to hide a limp he got close enough to him and sat down legs behind him so the man couldn't see the blood from his foster father lashing out at Vaynes legs. "I-Im V-Yayne" He said looking down still chewing his sleeve blushing lightly. "N-No I'm not hungry" His stomach disagreed growling loudly at the sight of food. Vayne covered his stomach and rubbed his side at the same time winced and whimpering softly so Darren didn't hear.
He couldn't understand why the man as being so nice to him he was just a stranger and he offered him food, why? Did he want to have his was with him also. Vayne didn't think a nice looking man would want to hurt anyone but he could never be to sure. He had trusted his foster father and that had only brought him abuse and pain.
What if dad came looking for him and found him with this man it wouldn't be good for him or the man. The man would get killed and Vayne would get beat. He didn't want the man who was being so nice to him. But the man looked like he could take his dad he was built and his dad wasn't rally all that muscular. He wished the man knew him better so they could be together and he would protect him. Word Count 240

Darren smiled as he watched the young man step toward him, tilting his head a little, he thought he saw a limp, this made him want to go out and find whoever had hurt the man before him, Darren smiled and watched him sit, his legs stretched out behind him. He smiled a bit more as the young man spoke, I-I’m V-Vayne. Darren nodded a little and then listened as Vayne spoke again, N-No I'm not hungry. Darren tilted his head a little as Vayne’s stomach growled very loudly. He chuckled a little, “Your stomach says otherwise. Please, I’ve eaten more than my fill, and, I’m just trying to help another soldier.” He smiled a little more again.
Vayne looked worried. “As long as you are with me, no one will be able to hurt you. Soldier’s honor.” Darren told him with a two-fingered salute and a welcoming, playful smirk. “You seem worried and unsure Vayne, maybe I can help?” Darren asked and shifted to get a better look at Vayne, being as non-threatening as he could be as they rested at the lake’s edge. Sighing Darren set his book aside and leaned his head back against the tree.
He shut his eyes a little but was still on constant alert his protective instincts rising up as he thought about all he had seen of Vayne. He feared someone was abusing him Darren had never liked abusive people. But to keep Vayne comfortable in his company, Darren suppressed the anger. If he had any say in it, Vayne would never be hurt again, not while he was around. He stretched and folded his arms behind his head on the tree. “It’s a lovely day today, perfectly relaxing.” Darren said lightly hoping to ease the mood between him and Vayne a little bit more.

Vayne looked down more his jacket damp with blood he kept rubbing his side whimpering softly so Darren wouldn't hear. "I-I'm not allowed to eat untill M-Master says I can or I will g-get punished." Vayne said quietly as if to himself. "I-I guess it's a pretty day, I-If you say it is" He whispered. Vayne had learned to agree with the thins people said if he didn't agree with his foster dad he got hurt.
The wounds on his legs started to get bigger from how he was sitting, the blood seeping through his pants he tried to hide it as best he could so Darren didn't see but he feared he would notice and ask what had happened. He was never allowed to tell what happened to him but he couldn't lie to the man sitting in front of him . Vayne feared he would hurt him if he did Word Count 152

Vayne’s next words hit Darren like a freight train flying down the tracks at over a hundred miles an hour. I-I'm not allowed to eat until M-Master says I can or I will g-get punished. Master?! Darren’s eyes flew open and he looked at Vayne, noticing the blood on his pants and his jacket. In an instant it was like he was back in the wars of the past, he moved around the meadow, collecting plants and other necessity to field dress wounds. When he returned to the blanket, setting down all the stuff he looked up as Vayne spoke again.
I-I guess it's a pretty day, I-If you say it is. This beautiful young man was nothing more than some abusers slave! Darren was furious, his anger smoldering deep inside, and partly visible in his deep, dark green eyes. “Vayne I want to help, we need to stop those wounds from bleeding. And your Master isn’t here to tell you can eat. I want you to eat, and I want to dress those wounds, help you heal. This Master of yours does not deserve you.” Darren moved closer to Vayne and extended a hand to him, “Please Vayne, let me help you, however I can.” Darren fell silent then, his hand still stretched out toward him, he had everything for helping the wounds heal spread out in their order so that he could easily reach them and dress the wounds. All he needed now was for Vayne to take his hand so that Darren could get started on what he knew was right, what he had been expected to do as a Lieutenant Commander when he was in the Army and as a Soldier. He sighed softly and waited, stoking his fire again so that the fish would stay warm, he waited and hoped.

Vayne watched Darren move around collecting thing then he came back and held his hand out to him saying he wanted to heal him and dress his wounds and wanting him to eat. He nodded not wanted Darren to hurt him and took his hand he could help him hoping it want a trap. "O-Okay if you so to I will" He said standing slowly almost falling onto Darren but he righted himself so he didn't.
He blushed deeply and started chewing on his jacket sleeve more nervous then attracted now. "J-Just don't hurt me please" He said shaking a bit from pain and a little fear. he wasn't completely sure why he feared Darren he was just trying to help him. Word Count 122

That was all the confirmation he needed, Darren’s hand closed gently on Vayne’s. As Vayne stepped toward him and almost lost his footing, Darren’s other hand came up to help if he needed it, but he didn’t. A warm half-smile claimed his lips as he listened to Vayne, O-Okay if you say to I will. J-Just don't hurt me please. Darren shook his head as he answered him, “I would never hurt you Vayne, please, please don’t be afraid. Sit down, and I’ll start on your wounds.” Darren told him with a soft smile and a gentle voice as he set up the first dressing and plants.
“I think the worst one is that one on your side, do you want to remove your shirt fully, or just get it up over the wound so I can clean it and cover it, so it doesn’t get any worse?” Darren’s voice was still soft and gentle. His hands, were just as gentle as he pulled a couple loose corners up off the blanket and got them damp in the lake and then returned, he tilted his head a little to the side, and waited to see what Vayne would want to do. He didn’t want to just reach out and pull up his shirt if it would make him uncomfortable.

He slowly took his jacket off revealing deep cuts going all the way up both arms and took his shirt off showing 6 jagged cuts on his side. You could see his ribs past his abs. He closed his fists as he watched Darren go to the lake and get the ends of the blanket wet then return. He was shaking bad now he was afraid of any kind of water touching him and his side hurt so bad he felt tears come to his eyes he whimpered loudly not hiding the pain from Darren now.
he still couldn't understand why he was being so nice to him. He kept thinking he wanted to have his way with him but he just said he didn't want to hurt him. He wanted to believe him but no one was ever this nice to him but Kallus and he never got to see him anymore. He wanted to trust Darren but he was afraid to. Word Count 161

For just a brief moment at the realization of Vayne’s injuries, a deep, fury was visible in his green eyes, he slowly pushed it back not to frighten him any worse. Vayne was too thin to really be considered healthy, the cuts on his arms were bad enough but what angered Darren most were the six jagged cuts on his side and the fact that no human being deserved this kind of treatment, no matter what the circumstances. Vayne was so frightened, Darren calmed himself, rung out the extra water from the blanket and slowly and gently wiped away the blood from around the wounds. Mashing up the plants he needed to remove any remaining infection from the cuts making a salve in the dish he had carried the dry fruit in, Darren’s fingers gently spread the mixture onto the cuts, then fashioned out of some moss he had found and some good fibrous plants, Darren lightly pressed the moss onto the cuts and wrapped it around Vayne’s thin frame, tying it off over the worst of the cuts. Then rewetting and ringing out the blanket again he completed the same ritual with the wounds on his arms, always, his gentle hands and a soft hum in his chest were used, Darren hoping to soothe him and slow or stop the shaking.
Darren had seen much worse back in the wars but all of his soldiers made it back to their families. “There we go. That wasn’t so bad was it?” He asked, as he leaned back away from Vayne to admire his handiwork. “Why don’t you help yourself to the food, and I’ll finish treating the wounds on your legs. We’ll keep you alive Vayne, none of my Soldiers have ever not made it back safe and alive, you’ll be no different, not so long as I have a say in the matter.” A gentle smile fell to Darren’s lips as he stood, stretched and moved to better position himself to work on the leg wounds. Darren felt something deep inside himself as he looked at this young man seated before him, Darren wanted to be there for him no matter what.

Vayne watched Darren work on his wound not wanting him to mess with the cuts on hims arms for he did those himself but didn't say anything to him. Watching Darren do this made Vayne want to be his so he could protect him and if he wanted he could have his way with him to Vayne thought he would like it if it was Darren his touch was so gentle and careful he liked it. He nodded when Darren told him to eat then looked at his pants wondering if he should take them off he had quite a few on his legs epically near his lower regions.
"D-Do you want me to take my pants o-off I-I have a few wounds near an area t-that's hard to g-get to with pants on..." He said quietly but Vayne never talked very loud even before his faster dad had him it was how Vayne was. He was always shy and timid but his foster dad had made it worse with all the abuse Word Count 172

Darren smiled softly as Vayne was going to agree to eat. Darren caught his look just as his words filled his ears, D-Do you want me to take my pants o-off I-I have a few wounds near an area t-that's hard to g-get to with pants on... Darren nodded a little and spoke, “If you want to. I will not force you too.” He told him as his fingers trailed gently down to the cuffs of his pants, “If you don’t want to, I can just get the ones up to your knees.” His voice was gentle and his deep, dark greens drifted slowly up to Vayne’s face.
The worst body wound was covered and the healing process was started, Darren smiled again as he waited to see what Vayne would want to do about the wounds on his legs, whether he would allow Darren to see certain regions or if he would just have Darren deal with the ones up to his knees. Darren would gladly do either. Vayne and he had just met and already they seemed to be comfortable in one another’s company. Tilting his head a little as the sun warmed his back Darren waited to see, he was still furious at whoever had given him these wounds but he was beginning to relax again.

Vayne stood and slowly took his pants off leaving him in just his boxer's he slowly sat down his legs in front of him so Darren could work, as a reflex he put his hands over his lower region to cover it. He looked down at his wounds, the jagged cuts the whip marks the claw marks all bleeding and causing Vayne pain. Vayne looked at Darren's muscular chest longing to me close to him to runs his fingers up and down his chest to feel his heart beat. But it would never happen no one would love him. Vayne bit his lip and stared and Darren's chest through his hair so Darren couldn't see the want and longing in Vayne's eyes. Vayne's mind went back to a few moments ago when Darren had trailed his fingers gently down the cuffs of Vayne's pants the way his foster dad would when he was gonna try to have his way with him. Vayne shook with fear now thinking of his foster dad to trying hide it he hugged himself and closed his eyes trying to calm down so he stayed there hugging himself trying to think of something happy. His mind went straight to Darren with his gentle voice and gently touch he clung to that thought then Darren took Vayne in his arms and didn't let go how he wished it was real but it was helping him calm down he hugged himself as the shaking stopped slowly. Darren leaned back away as Vayne got to his feet and removed the pants then sat back down reflexively covering himself. Darren half-smiled as he leaned back in, performing the same gentle ritual as he did on both the side wound and the ones on his arms. The marks on his legs were pretty bad as Darren took in the full view of them while he worked, wiping away the blood gently, spreading the salve carefully into the cuts, putting the sphagnum over it and wrapping them with the fibrous plants to hold the field-made bandages in place. Smiling at his handiwork Darren leaned back. Then Darren crawled up the blanket so he could repeat the procedure on the ones closer to the lower regions, he carefully treated and wrapped them as well. Sitting back, resting on his forearms Darren smiled and looked up at the sky. The sun was trekking slowly down from her perch at the apex of the Earth. “There ya go Vayne. I’ll let you get dressed again and then maybe we can have ourselves some dinner, talk, get to know one another.” Then he smiled and tilted his head a little. Darren didn’t believe he had seen anyone so fair as this man. Words~208 Other~Not as long as I'd have liked, but good no less.
