It has been 10 years since Kagome's return to the Sengoku period; and her stay is permanent. The Bone-Eater's well has closed up; ending its mysterious ability to allow both Kagome and Inuyasha to transport themselves between the Modern Era and the Sengoku period. Kagome has sacrificed her modern time, friends and family to be here. However, she doesn't regret it and instead makes a life for herself in Kaede's village. She's happy to be here, and no doubt Inuyasha is as well, despite their endless old habits of arguing with each other.
Kagome trains with the old Miko Kaede to learn what she needs to know about healing, plants and control of her own powers; eventually she would have to take over in the old woman's place. At least, the village would be in good hands, well protected by the people here and the skilled fighters among them. Undoubtedly the stories of their war with Naraku and various other journeys would go around, prompting tales. Yet in their midst is the opportunity for other yōkai to arise with Naraku now long gone out of the picture.
Many yōkai do arise, most are weak and cause little problems. Nevertheless, they may be called to do various yōkai exterminations. Miroku, Inuyasha and even Kagome would be called to do those tasks, Sango of course has her hands full with a family at home. Kagome may be called to places of war where there are no healers in order to tend to those wounded and or perform other miko duties. Kohaku also goes around dealing with troublesome yōkai with Kirara as his companion. Kohaku has sense long moved on; claiming his sister's house was too crowded for him to stay at.
Rin has also grown well here and has gotten to know and open up to people perhaps a little bit better than she used to. Still bright as always but she knows the world has its dark sides. Looking to any visits that Sesshomaru may bring to if the daiyōkai decides to stop by. While a certain fox yōkai makes life as troublesome as ever for a certain hanyō. Shippo continues his fox magic training, by tricking potential targets, and he's gotten quite good at it but he still visits the human village he calls home. Meanwhile, little has been heard of Kouga and his pack in the mountains.
However... lately there have been more rumors of war as the human lords fight with themselves over land in their control. Each one either trying to defend their villages from invaders, or take control of another village. Big villages and cities are the usual targets. Smaller ones tend to be left alone, for the most part anyway. Those people who do not wish to be apart of the fighting flee to neighboring lands and villages for safety. However, even the yōkai in the warring areas are also fighting with those humans; trying to take their control away which often ends in bloodshed on either side.
The fighting is spreading and not just among the humans either. The dragon clan has attempted to take possession of the western lands with the rightful heir; Sesshomaru - not taking his father's territory; and no one knows for sure if he's abandoned it. However, despite this, they have seen the Inu yōkai clan has a threat; harboring hatred for a feud that has started ever since Ryokotsessei battled the Inu Tashio hundreds of years ago...
The peace that has began since Naraku's death is about to be shattered...
A new war is brewing....
