Scarlinio, yes, the crazy woods of Sylian. You’d have to be insane they say to make a trip into them. Well, Dom was going to prove that claim false. He collected his bow and arrows, his dagger and his blade and stepped out of his dormitory room and headed toward the trees that marked the forest. He wanted to be sure he knew what he could possibly be up against once he bonded his Dragon. Stepping into the darkness of the trees he felt a chill creep up his spine…and it wasn’t from the cold…the woods were just plain creepy.

Shaking the feeling off Dominic sprinted into the heart of the trees and scaled one. Resting at the top of its reach he settled down and smirked. Now, to see if he could still hit a target far in the distance, a bird took off a good sized turkey it looked like, Dominic notched and arrow and let it fly, it fell short by five feet. Sighing, Dominic judged his surroundings and gauged the elements…notched a second arrow and aimed, it was true this time, the bird fell to the ground. Smirking Dom figured out where exactly he had to go and scrambled back down to the ground.

Pointing himself toward the northeast, Dom pulled his blade from his belt and held it ready in case some creature attacked him. Reaching his first arrow without much trouble, Dom relaxed only just slightly, his blade still at the alert to attack anyone or anything that would get after him in this dark forest, he made it to the bird with no trouble and then as he turned back around to head back is when he first ran into trouble, a creature, the blade came up and slashed at it, he ducked past and ran, and then he bolted up another tree and watched as the creature tried to find him. He chuckled and relaxed in the tree top.

Laffi was playing his flute near some water in the forest he heard a rustle of a tree then a caw of a bird he figured it was trig to find its mate and continued to play. Then he heard the pounding of footsteps he knew then that someone had hurt a bird. He dashed off to where he heard the bird and found a man walking away eh went to chase after him but a creature got to him first. serves him right. Laffi thought but the man had got away and ran up a tree. Laffi sighed and went to the bird touching its feathers gently. forgetting about the creature who was now right on top of Laffi.

Now Laffi could calm any creature and care for any creature so he pt his skills to work and started playing a calming melody on his flute slowly back away from the creature watching it sway gently with the tune.Laffi smirked as he continued to play stepping closer now as the creature seemed at peace. He slowly moved his flute away from his mouth and into his right hand so his left was free. He reached up slowly and touched the creatures muzzle. He recolonized the creature to be a Kyogre and sighed knowing his effect would wear off soon so he walked away into a place of hiding and not but a few seconds later the creature went back into its murderous looking

Dom tilted his head a little as he watched the man approach his turkey, touch it and then turn to soothe the murderous creature, but it didn’t last for long. Descending from his tree after the creature was gone, Dom looked to the man and smirked a little, “That was rather impressive. Name’s Dominic, Dominic Wolff, excuse me a moment I must retrieve my dinner.” Dom told him as he stepped past and headed to the turkey-looking bird. Dropping it over his shoulder, Dom ran a hand through his dishwater blonde hair as his deep blue eyes searched out the man’s own.

His own hair was blonde, and his eyes were the same dark blue as Dom’s. He was a rather handsome young man, but, Dom kept his emotions locked down. For perhaps this young man, was not like him, and where was Sami? Scanning the trees, Dom didn’t see him. Never-the-less, Dom scanned again, then whistled loudly, the sound echoing through the trees. “Sami! Sami here boy! Come!!” Dom called, it wasn’t long before he heard crashing and twigs breaking then a streak of white appeared through the dark green undergrowth, and darted to his left side where it sat and looked up at him, it’s tail waving and it’s crystal blue eyes bright.

Smiling down at the little Arctic Wolf pup with his black “cross” on the back, Dominic squatted and scratched the pup behind the ears, praising him for listening so well, and coming when he was called. Then Dom turned his head back and smiled at the young man again, “This is Sami. He’s a sweetheart.” Dom told him and stood back up as the pup stepped toward the stranger, “Be nice Sami.” Dom stated firmly as he looked at the pup as he looked back at his Master and yipped his agreement before returning to approach the young man for a little bit extra attention. Dom smiled gently as he watched his wolf.

Laffi looked at the mad as he grabbed to Turkey not caring what his name was Laffi wasn't to happy. "I do not care for your name you have killed a harmless creature, What did it do to you for you to kill it?" he asked stepping toward him anger in his eyes he looked down at the wolf pup and waved hello. "No petting from me I'm not to happy with your master so go on" He looked at the man Dominic."It was cruel to kill it for no good reason." He kept walking toward him his hands curling into fists. Laffi never lost his cool this easily but it was not right to hurt something that did nothing wrong.

Dom’s eyebrow rose a little and he cocked his head at the young man as he spoke, I do not care for your name you have killed a harmless creature, what did it do to you for you to kill it? No petting from me I'm not too happy with your master so go on. It was cruel to kill it for no good reason. Dom just shook his head a little as he responded to this young man, he had brushed Sami aside, no one did that and got away with it. “It did not do anything true, and ABSOLUTELY no one brushes aside my wolf like you just did…” he paused, his own anger bringing him to step toward the other his own fists balled up.

“…and just for your information…I was getting dinner for those candidates that do not have a chance to get to the kitchens for dinner, so I took its life yes, but every part of it…will be used.” Dom advanced even closer to the younger man and glared, his deep blue eyes flaring up as Sami sat down the tip of his left ear tipping down as a whimper slipped from his muzzle. No one had ever been so mean to him in his short life. Then after the initial whimper slipped free, angry growls slipped free as Sami moved back to his master’s side, still growling.

This just reignited the fury inside and Dom advanced even closer to the other man. “I wish not to come to blows with you over a simple pioneer’s dinner, but if you insist, you will see a side of me that I have always kept suppressed because it is a side of myself that I do not like.” Dom almost growled at him, much like Sami was doing as well. Then he stepped back and crossed his arms over his chest and stood to his full six foot five inch height, and continued to glare, waiting to see what this young man would do.

Laffi listened to his words his attitude changed when he was done explaining. Laffi took at deep breath. "I apologize for my rash behavior, I just do not appreciate people hurting or killing harmless creatures." He said his calm look taking place on his face and in his eyes. "I am one for nature and it hurts and angers me when someone destroys it." He looked at the pup and went to one knee patting the ground gently. "You deserve an apology also come here boy" He said to the dog. "Also I do not want to fight you I'm not one for fighting unless absolutely necessary." Laffi nodded to himself thinking through his words as he always did when meeting new people. "Oh and you wanted my name, I'm Laffi" He smiled a gentle smile barely noticeable.

Dominic’s cool demeanor had worked, or so it seemed, the young man calmed down, taking a deep breath before speaking, I apologize for my rash behavior, I just do not appreciate people hurting or killing harmless creatures. I am one for nature and it hurts and angers me when someone destroys it. Dom could understand this, Devyn was a lot like this young man and Dominic had raised her, allowing her attitude to blossom. He smiled as Sami’s growls ceased as the men exchanged words. Then Dom smiled again as he watched the younger man kneel on the ground and speak to Sami.

Sami tilted his head, the left ear tip flopping down again as his crystal blue eyes traveled from the younger man’s tapping hand to his face and then up to Dom’s face as he yipped, Dominic just barely dipped his head and Sami bounded toward the other man. Smiling as his wolf pup yipped at the hand and tried to tuck himself under it, Dom caught the last words from his acquaintance, Also I do not want to fight you I'm not one for fighting unless absolutely necessary. Oh and you wanted my name, I'm Laffi. Dom smiled again as Sami succeeded in his mission.

“I completely understand that Laffi, and I don’t blame you for it, my little sister has a similar attitude as yours when it comes to nature, she was constantly bringing home injured creatures as we were growing up. Mother and father would always make her get rid of them almost as soon as she got them there. It was sad really.” Dom told Laffi as Sami yipped again and then licked Laffi’s hand and Dom chuckled. “By the way, friends call me Dom.” He told him and fell silent, his blue eyes watching his wolf pup as his tail waved in excitement.

He petted Sami and listened to Dominic speak, he smirked and chuckled a little at his pup the looked up at Dom sitting down. "That's sad your parents were so mean to make her take it back out they could have died." He said not meaning to sound mean if he did. "My foster parents weren't the nicest people either." He looked down a bit of sadness in his eyes. He didn't like talking about them and when he did it hurt him.

he sighed and kept petting Sami all the memories from his past coming back the lies of Serena and Seria. .He gripped his flute and pushed down the serge of sadness swelling inside him. Laffi had learned to hide his feelings very well being with liars who manipulated him and forced him to things he didn't want to do.

Dom sighed softly and nodded as he listened to Laffi, That's sad your parents were so mean to make her take it back out they could have died. My foster parents weren't the nicest people either. Dom turned to look at Laffi. “They were a little mean yes, and the creatures would have died, had Devyn not told and showed me where she had hidden them, so that between the both of us we could keep them alive and safe until they could go free again. She would hide them within inches of our house, it was really quite funny actually.” Dom said with a chuckle as Sami yipped and got to his paws quickly and stared intently into the trees.

Dom saw the change in Sami’s demeanor and looked to Laffi. “Perhaps we had better find a safer spot to finish our conversation, I think Sami senses something that could be very harmful to us both, despite your talents with the music.” Dom said stooping to pick up the pup, who was now growling softly the ripples tracking over his small frame. “Yup, something’s up alright.” Dom cradled the pup close just as a shadow broke from the trees and started moving toward them, grabbing the rest of his stuff as well, Dom started to back away from the moderately approaching shadow. It was far enough away that Dom couldn’t quite tell what it was though.

Laffi looked up from his thought's to hear Dom and see the shadow he did the same as Dom backing away slowly putting his flute to his mouth playing a calming tune to slow the monster down he stopped for only a moment to say "Go, I will catch up with you I'm gonna try to delay it." and started playing again still moving backwards. He tried to see if he knew what the creature was bu it's shadow he could tell it wasn't a Kyogre not snake like so it wasn't an Izzy.... Man what could it be if he knew what it was he could delay it a lot better.. Years of playing and manipulating kids into sleeping so they could take him away gave him this talent he didn't like using it this way but it was the only way to delay the creature.

Dominic hesitated just a moment as Laffi spoke, Go, I will catch up with you I'm gonna try to delay it. Sami whimpered softly and looked at Dom and then out at Laffi and yipped sadly, but then, Dom and Sami were headed quickly the other direction, away from the shadow, “Be careful Laffi!!” Dom yelled back to him and turned away, running, Sami tucked tight into his chest. The pup was actually a good warning system. Taking note of this Dom made sure to remind himself to give Sami a little bit extra treat with his dinner tonight. He chanced a glance back at Laffi and couldn’t see him.

Skidding to a halt Dom searched back toward the trees, he couldn’t leave a Soldier behind. A sound close by sent him running again. Soon he broke through the tree line and stopped again, tucking Sami into a spot of undergrowth where he’d be safe, Dom told him to stay and softly whimpering momentarily, he hunkered down. Satisfied, Dom scrambled up the nearby tree, a short one but one that he could easily see back into the trees, he scanned and spotted Laffi, he looked like he was safely away from the shadow.

His heart sped up, Dom wouldn’t relax again until both he and Laffi were safely out of Scarlinio. Be careful Laffi, get outta there safely. He thought, his eyes worried and his heart beating a crazy rhythm against his ribs. Watching the events unfolding, Dom gripped his bow and arrows and situated himself so he didn’t fall out of the tree, gauging his surroundings and the distance between him and Laffi, Laffi and the shadow, and himself and the shadow, judging his best idea, he had to distract the creature. He notched an arrow, aimed it at a dead tree to the creatures left and deeper into the trees and let it fly.

He hoped it would hit the intended target and distract the creature to give Laffi a slightly larger window to run to safety. It looked as if the creature couldn’t be in the sun for more than a few seconds. Watching the two forms in the distance, Dom silently asked that Laffi would make it out free and clear of the creature. He looked down where Sami hunkered into the brush and was silently thankful that the wolf was smart enough to be silent and hidden. Now the waiting game began.

Laffi watched an arrow gfly by and hit a tree near by. the creature seemed to hav etorned to look at it. Nows my chance he thoughtand dashed off flute in hand running as afst as he could he could see Dom's foot stpes andhe followed them. he broke the tree line and looked around. He saw Sami then looked up ans saw Dom. He smirked. good they were safe. "Hey nice shooting, you saved my ass. I owe tyou one." He said and cleaned against the tree.

His distraction seemed to work. From what Dom could see from his perch at the very top of the tree, he saw the shadow dart into the trees to investigate the new morsal. Dom sat up taller and then heard the pounding of feet as he looked to the ground to see Laffi running his way. Dom smiled and started scurrying back down the tree as Laffi spoke, Hey nice shooting, you saved my ass. I owe you one. As his feet hit the ground again Sami wriggled out from the underbrush to approach Dom and Laffi who were now both safely on the ground in the sunlight and attempting to catch their breath.

Smiling, Dom answered him, “Thanks and you’re welcome, but I was just doing my duty as a Soldier, making sure my Squad members get out safe and alive.” Instinctively his hand fell to Sami’s head and he started to rub and scratch him behind the ears as he had wiggled his way in between the two men and was slowly stopping his own shaking. Dom smiled again and looked around them, yes, they were safe, “Whatever kind of creature that was, it doesn’t seem to be able to be out in the sunlight for more than a couple split seconds. We should be safe here.” Relaxing a little Dom leaned back against the tree and tried to stop the adrenaline rush that was slowly starting to simmer down in his blood as he looked to Laffi and smiled again.

"I know what I'm doing when it comes to my flute and it's lullaby's trust me" He said and petted Sami he. Laffi looked down at his flute and sighed. Why did they make him do... All those poor people hurt because of his talent. He gripped his flute a hard look in his eyes. He hated himself for what he did to those innocent kids all their parents worried about them and he knew where they were but he couldn't help them... He growled deep in his throat.

Dom looked at Laffi as he spoke, I know what I'm doing when it comes to my flute and it's lullaby's trust me. Dom half smiled, his body down from the adrenaline high as he spoke, “I don’t doubt that but still…” his voice trailed off as he rested his head back on the smooth bark of the tree, his fingers ceasing to scratch Sami behind the ears as he let his eyelids drop a little, “That is the most excitement I’ve seen in ages.” He said with a chuckle as he looked back at Laffi. What would have happened had he not been there?

Dom didn’t want to think about it, but his mind gave him no choice, if Laffi hadn’t been there, Dom and Sami would have been dinner for the thing. A barely noticeable shudder ran over his body; that was the one thing that Dom was really truly afraid of, dying, and well kinda opening himself to love to but his greatest fear was dying, whether it was his death or someone else’s. Another shiver ran through him and Dom tried to think about other things, Sami, Dev, the upcoming Hatching…and it worked he calmed and sat quietly against the tree.
